When either fishing from a bank or boat, how many fishers here do better (or worse) when they pull their flies or perhaps do you just leave them be and keep in contact with them only.

By my impatient nature, I need to be "doing some thing" and therefore tend to pull my flies and wondered what the rest of you guys did?

I mostly pull,Even if only fig of 8.
