Default First Salmon

Liath,

Great, well done. You will never forget that fish. I have never forgotten my first salmon, 30 + years ago, on rod and line but unfortunately it was on a worm but even now I don't give a damn.

PS - it was on 4lb breaking strain and weighed 6lbs.

Any darker it will be singing Mame

Congrats on your first fish but it really should have gone back. Maybe next time a bit older & wiser.

Come on guys, let's keep it in perspective, liath's first ever salmon. Bear that in mind.

Thanks for all the congratulations. after I caught the fish I asked an other fisherman if it was a keepable fish, as I was not sure being new to salmon fishing his reply was ,aye its a cracker .I am all for catch and release, however as it was my first fish I decided to keep it,I do not plan on taking many more their is something nice about seeing such amazing fish released and to keep up with the conservation of the river and species.

Well done Liath, if it had been my first salmon, I would probably have hugged it to death anyway.

Congrats on your first , Liath.
Things will never be quite the same again.

Here's what a keeper looks like , and any less shiny are definitely better put back.
But you know that now.
