Default braided loops frustration

I was cleanning my line today ,noticed a little rip in the coating so i cut off about 2.5 ft .
Problem is now i have just wasted about 1 hour and 3 sierra braided loops
I cant seem to push the fly line up inside the braid,as i push it into it,the line sort of comes through the side of it.
Any ideas????
Any alternative method of attaching leader to fly line?

Did you cut 2.5 feet off the front of your fly line? If so I suspect you are having trouble because you will be trying to attach the braid to a thicker, tapered part of the fly line as opposed to the level tip.

Yes it was from the front James.I thought the front was thicker, suppose i am wrong. So i will have to look for an alternative method i guess.

Top Idea - learn to make your own braided loops - you need a small latch hook and its a doddle. Once you can do this braided loops are free for life.
One trick is to trim the line at a very shallow angle, then nip off the point, which blunts it and makes the line less likely to poke through the side, if it does then just ease it back a bit...

There are many other ways to attach a leader.
Nail not a permanent butt works well, with or without a perfection loop in the end.
Nail knot with doubled mono is quite effective.
Loop on the leader, figure of eight on the line, and a sheet bend to attach is the old way.

Nail knot is fine, but perhaps doesn't turn over quite as well as a loop to loop connection.

Cut your fly-line at an angle and leave a point - it feeds into the braid better and then push the braid on a short length at a time, rather like an inch-worm. Always put a drop of super-glue on and pull on the rubber sleeve over the glue.

I've stopped using them and much prefer to needle-knot a length of mono onto my fly line. I find that the rubber sleeve tends to hinge back and forth and cause a crack in the fly-line.

Best imho are the Roman Moser Minicon loops, but why not try making your own. Airflo do a "Leader Joint Kit" with everything you need to make your own loops. I know that Sportfish stock it.

Okay,
There is always a problem when pushing a fly line into a braided loop. It has the tendency to start to unravel. What I do is to push a darning needle into the braid and then heat it (away from the braid) with a cigarette lighter That has the effect of melting the nylon which the disadvantage of it melting too much. Youcan then work the fly line into the braid. Roman Moser leader loops tell you how to do this and even supply a needle.
