Default FFF search function

Sorry for posting in the wrong section but no obvious place to post this.

I've asked this before but didn't really get an answer. The search function here is useless, it doesn't recognise the standard Boolean operators (AND, NOT, OR) or parentheses ("..."). This means that if you search for something like, say upstream nymphing the search will return all posts with the words "upstream" and "nymphing" seperately. 311 results, very few of which are relevant (http://www.flyforums.co.uk/search.php?searchid=2077699).

Another issue is that you cannot search for a word with fewer than 4 letters e.g. "ptn".

Many other forums have both an integrated search function as here and also a google search function which allows the full functionality of google but only searches the forum for results.

This means that many very useful threads, once they fall off the recent posts list, are effectively lost and can't be accessed easily.

Hi Steve.

I have just setup a google search for this site which does all those things you ask.

I have tried it and it seems to work fine for me, can you try it and let me know if it works for you too?

if it does work for everyone then admin could sticky this thread so that everyone can use it

Tom

Excellent Tom, exactly what I was looking for - agree that if it was stickied it would make life a lot easier.

Thanks

Steve

I use google and just type
upstream nymphing site:flyforums.co.uk
Which gives the required result.
