Default Rivers and Stillwaters

First point - this is not an argument!

Just wondering what everyone's favourite type of fishing is and why? Do you like the peacefulness of a stillwater, the running water of a river? Do you have no preference what so ever?

What is it about each that make you want to go back?

Personally i prefer loch fishing, probably for the simple fact of not having to worry about the current. It's a bit more relaxing and you certainly don't catch less. In general the fish are smaller than in the rivers but i can live with that! I am starting to fish rivers a bit more, trying to learn more about them and give them a fair chance.

EDIT: just realised this, when i mentioned stillwater i meant anything that's not flowing water. Fishery, loch, lake, whatever!

My local is a stillwater so i fish there quite a bit, although i do like fishing rivers however big or small - i get very little opportunity for the later so normally im found on the former.

If there's trout in it I'll fish it.

I prefer hill lochs and rivers but for convenience I tend to fish my local stockie lake more as it is a lot easier to get to. Save the lochs and rivers for when I can get a full day at it.

I mainly fish Lochs but they are rarely still

I have fished a few rivers/burns, more in number than i had realised until i thought about this topic.

Next season i might split my time 50-50 between Loch and River.

I am happy on any as long as I am casting a fly at any game fish on any waters.Saying this, some offer different things which is why fly fishing is so diverse and enjoyable. If we want to go off on our own we have rivers and lochs,if we want to fish and have a chat with friends aswell,l we can opt for a stillwater. We are lucky we have choice, some dont.
But what ever we choose, we shouldnt knock those who choose one or the other and respect others and carry ourselves responsibly when we do fish.

It's a River or stream for me, Running water always! Still water - That's just it - It's still, like fishing in a pond! Each to his own; but, Rivers for me!

Given the choice, rivers, but in terms of cost and availability I often have to settle for stillwaters.

Cant decide. I love both for various different reasons. Most of which have been mentioned previously. I therefore picked any water although i don't fish commercials I wouldn't rule it out.
