Default Nigel Haigh RIP.

Its with great sadness that i write this, but Nigel Haigh passed away last week, many of you will have known Him , he was a former small water champion & the 1991 troutmaster champion ,a former contributer to the pages of troutfisherman and a regular around the small waters of yorkshire & lancashire
He was a true gentleman , a good friend & a great mentor he will be sadly missed
May he rest in peace

very sad news Nigel was a great guy and I had the pleasure of fishing with him on a couple of occasions, always one of the first to congratulate a good performance by other anglers

Deeply sad news, and a tragic loss for his family and everyone who knew him. I have some fond memories of Nigel laughing and joking around at Stocks with that unmistakable spring in his stride, and time aplenty for everyone. I've also had countless memorable days on Stocks, but one of the best, alas now bittersweet, was afloat with Nigel on a warm damp April day about six or seven years ago. We both fished totaly different methods but both of us absolutely paggered 'em. I hooked a sizeable, and propper mental blue trout as we were fast approaching Willow Island.... Nigel put his rod away in a flash and proceeded to take control of the boat...safely in the net, thanks to Nigel, we both admired the fish - twas a stunner, fin perfect and 6 and a half pounds if it was an ounce. "I'll give you 7lb for that one mate" Said Nigel. Typical.

This is dreadful, I have fished with Nigel on half a dozen occasions over the last couple of years and he was kindness itself in helping me with my boat fishing.

Last time was in June or July and he looked fine..what happened?

Heard the news yesterday... lovely guy!... Remember fishing with him at the Hanningfield Masters..... He was 'slightly' concerned about the big waves and rough conditions... and all the baling-out of water... didnt bother him after easily beating me in the boat afterwards!... RIP mate... Sad news indeed.
