Question Pottishaw C & R ONLY ?

Hi Guys

My mate told me theres a fishery near him (he just moved) he says it C and R only Cant be good for the fish surely

http://www.pottishawflyfishery.co.uk/page2.htm

Ive always been under the impression fisheries "needed" kill tickets to help keep the fish stocks "fresh" for the C & R guys

I understand this fishery used to both kill and C & R does anyone here know why the change

I live a mile from the water and I have heard the same C&R Only - So no fresh fish - Just another way of saving money I think.

All fisheries need a turnover of fresh fish for the sport.

Been in the same hands as it was when it started.Always had loads of hook shy fish swimming about, this will make it even worse.

Absolute madness on a 7acre fishery, maybe they are struggling to continually stock new fish and see this as a way of saving , itll work short term but will never last. Times are hard everywhere but even a token stocking is better than nowt.

not the way forward.

7 acres my a**e. I live within a mile of it and often have a walk along the Almond that runs close to it.

An acre is 660 yards by 66 yards (approx) or around 44,000 square yards. Think of a football field and you won't be far out. Pottishaw could be dropped into any major stadium.

As to the fishing I can't comment never having fished it. Originally this was a piece of land that flooded every winter and, following reclamation after an open cast mining operation became Pottishaw fishery. For some time it was stocked with pike by some locals before it was turned into a fishery.

Spot on with that. A hole in the ground after the landscapers left, and in fact it was their settling pond of sorts to stop the muddy water from entering the Almond.
