Default What you do when its raining?

What do you do when you know its going to lash it down eg for the next week but you really want to fish? Do you just go anyway regardless or wait patiently for better weather?

On the river I'll wait for the tail end of a flood on stillwaters I still go if I expected. That's special dedication to go out into it.
I'll stay out in it but won't go out into it.

Decide on the day by looking at the weather, assuming you're heading somewhere local. If planning to go far afield i would stay at home!

Thirdly accept the British (more so Scottish!) summer weather and wait patiently on a break in the rain.

PS - TK's statement about staying in it but not going into it definitely applies!

Stick on the waders and waterproof coat put up hood and go fishing, chalk streams dont worry too much about rain ,neither does stillwaters, not done it but the sea is not really affected by rain.all the above are where I might go in wet weather, febuary saw me wading the Spey with ice floes coming down in the snow.
no bad weather for fishing only inapropriate clothing ,get the right kit and thats from base layers out wards and you will have a good session.

On stillwaters I look more for constant atmospheric pressure and wind direction. These have more of an effect on the fish than rain - unless it is going to absolutely hammer it down.
Otherwise it's out with the wateproofs and prepare for a soggy bum and a wet neck!

I am sure there are a million jobs around the house that want doing I know in my case there are probably 2 million jobs and it keeps her indoors happy when the weather breaks no probs with said her indoors about going fishing and everyone tickety boo. Oh in my case I do the jobs around the house when I feel like it and go fishing when I like we have an understanding and I have never been job trained.

Well I've come up to Scotland to fish. Was meant to be collecting new Vision Attack rod for going out on a couple of lochs. Unfortunately last few days of great weather I've been stuck in Perth cause car had a problem which is costing four or five hundred to fix. Don't get it back till later today if I'm lucky. So wont be able to collect rod till tomorrow when the weather is going to be bad for the rest of the week and totally lash it down so on loch Leven river Earn or elsewhere for me! Dont have any waterproofs unfortunately. Being a Yorkshireman though am not too bothered by rain. The irony is I've been mulling about in Perth have got a slight sun tan watching the Tay go past and the rest of the week all the way to next tuesday when I'm back to work its rain. Think its the remnants of hurricane bill or bob or something coming over from America no doubt punishment for releasing that mass murderer. Will have to come back to Scotland in four weeks or so and hope weather is better then. Should be able to get myself a hard shell eVent jacket by then too. What a disaster. This car has been the worst one I've ever had. Has cost me easily £1000 per year just in repairs. I've got to get rid of it. Hopefully four or five weeks and I'll be back up in Scotland better prepared and this time I'll be able to get some fishing done.
