Default Greys Platinum Competitor 10ft 7wt Rod

Hi there,
Anyone willing to share their experience good or bad on this rod. Fed up with Sage breaking and been advised to have a look. Had a Western 3 out on Sunday, pretty good but looking at other options.

Fraser, have you had a shot of a Redington CPS I find it pretty good, or a Bloke XL50.
If you would like a shot let me know.

I have handled the comp and felt it was now rather heavy, especially compared with the Orvis. I was impressed with the Western 3 but have only waggled it so interested in what you thought of it ?

The Loop rods are getting very good feedback, in a similar price bracket.

Charlie,
Western 3 was pretty good, Didn't like the handle too thin although I have big paws. Fished in windy wet weather and it did not let me down but fingers were cramping by end of day.
Nice enough finish though.

I've got a 10ft 7wt platinum XD. I love it and although it handles my 8wts ok, i don't want to chuck my DI7's on it. Because of this, i'm getting a 10ft 8wt platinum x comp special. I have used one and although heavier, it's a beast of a rod and i'm sure it will cope with even my shooting heads at Farmoor. Great pulling tool but wouldn't fancy fishing the dries on it. My 10ft 7 wt is to stiff for dries aswell - i found this to my cost on saturday during the Lexus final . Although i cant say it lost me any fish, the hooks on two that i did land were badly straightened. Must be the rod because it couldn't possibly be my fault!!!!

Interesting point on the Western 3 Toprod, I have a Helios and had the same complaint and I do not have especially big hands. I got a new handle fitted for 20 quid but not what you expect on an expensive item.

Someone in the design section of Orvis has very small hands
