Default Fly Fishing Book for Scotland?

Does anyone know of any alternative to Bruce Sandison "Trout & Salmon Rivers and Lochs of Scotland"?

This book is out of production unfortunately. It's impossible to source and the odd place I have been able to find one the price slapped on it can be into triple figures.

The only chance I've had to read this book, and it is a great book and very comprehensive guide is at the central lending library in Leeds and even they wont allow it to be loaned out, you have got to sit there and read it there and then. It's impossible to remember all the info in this book though I have to just scribble down notes on which lochs and rivers to try in that part of Scotland I'm heading to.

Does anyone know of any other recent books they could recommend instead for Scotland?

Thanks,
John

By the same author. Not as comprehensive but at that price it might be worth a browse.

As far as I know Bruce is finishing the new addition to this book but there is no publishing date fixed.

Way off target here but I came a cross this online book while searching. An insight into the salmon rivers and lochs just after the first world war. I have only read part of the Introduction but it sounds interesting

The .pdf link is here.

There is no substitute for Bruce Sandison's guide; it's the best by far. Quite a few available on Amazon but they are the original edition, not recommended as much of the info is out of date and it's not as comprehensive as the later revised version. I have the 2001 edition and a fair bit of info is already out date as there have been many changes in land ownership/management.
Best to wait for the new version.

Until the new edition is published, you can get halfway there with a copy of his Trout Lochs of Scotland. There are plenty of copies on Amazon and ABE of the third (1992) edition of this from eight quid or thereabouts.
