Default Positives of angling

With alot of negatives been shown about angling on Tv,radio etc maybe its simply that people are not aware of all th positives that angling offers. I see it offers so much and its not just about catching a fish.

It takes children out into the countryside and makes them aware there is life outside Tv and computer games.
It gives them confidence and social skills to interact with adults.
Helps with coordination and teaches you patience.
Anglers are very conservation minded and care about the countryside.
As we get older gives us something to concentrate our minds on and keeps us active.

This is just to name a few.It s upto us as anglers to promote the positives and show that we are and angling is good for all communties and it does alot for it.What positives do you see in angling?

When I sea fished with my Dad when I was little, I got to appreciate (and taste) the diversity of fish that existed - everything from Mackerel, Cod, Dogfish to Skate. I think fishing allows kids to realise where the fish they eat comes from - there's no such thing as Fish Finger trees .

there's a lot of anglers out there...and people who rely on angling for their livelihood... some of the most eloquent writing I have experienced has been focused on our great and beautiful pursuit....it is amazing that there is no-one to orchestrate our efforts!

Anglers are usually the first to shout about declining water quality... and genearlly keep an eye out for pollution etc... on their local waters.

I wonder what state our inland waterways would be in if it wasn't for us horrible anglers?...................Maybe Mr GR-J should reflect on that. .........................birdsnest

Yep,

Its a great addiction, I have managed to get a certain member of my family off one addictive pastime and onto fishing! He still occasionally combines the two but I can see which one is winning.

I just wish I could get some help for my aged land rover addiction though . . .
