Default Another Blank!

I swear i'm going to give this up! Out last night and blanked again, thats the last 6 times i've been out. Others have been catching, they say its tough but there still catching. I see fish... and I get the odd pull, but none in my net.

I bought a priest a couple of weeks ago, for a trip down to the Erne and since then... not a sausage!

Anyone wanna buy a slightly jinxed priest?

Don't give up.
Maybe time to review how you are fishing, change of tactics, makes it more interesting.

Maybe that priest aint saying no prayers it can be very frustrating at times but stick at it when fish give you a tug but don't take it drop down to a smaller size and try that if they dont like that try a different pattern or colour ask what other people are taking on I am sure they will advise you best of luck keep trying and tight lines.

Default unique way to catch a trout

Hi, I am quite new to this how to get frustrated sport!

However I thought I would share this with you as I blank on many occasions.

I purchased a random looking gold egg blob thing (technical) and after blanking for 2 hours I thought I would give it a go, just managed to get it on my line, dropped it into the water while I sorted out the line, it was taken by a rainbow at that moment! I had to drop my rod and grab the line at my feet and pull!
2.2lb of rainbow just eyed me up with horror.. So ok perhaps not the traditional way to do it, but I went on to catch 6 with it... off to buy more

If anyone is interested I got it from an online store.. let me see if I can find the link..........

http://www.troutflies.co.uk/product....parkle_egg_fly

There you go... quite cheap as well

Happy fishing!

Bob

Not wanting to hijack jonny's thread but has anyone else used troutflies.co.uk, they seem very cheap and was wondering what the quality was like?

As I mentioned I am quite new to it but I have bought a lot of my flies off that site as I am on a budget, I have not had any snap or drop to bits, where as I got some at almost double from my local tackle shop and I had 2 that bent on a take, maybe thats because I am slightly inexperienced.. They deliver next day as well.. so not bad, have tried a few others online but had to wait ages for them.. anyway, thats all I can add really

Cheers

Bob

I've caught plenty of fish this year, I'm just not sure whats changed. The old boys who fish the reservoir regularly have been very helpful, even giving me plenty of advise and the odd fly or two.

I think the thing is ive only been fishing drys resonantly, trying to get to grips with this method. So I'm sure its down to technique, as my presentation isnt the best.

Anyway, Last night, about 10.30, well after dark, I was moving round the reservoir towards my car and I came across a stretch of bank, about 30m in length and the water was bubbling with fish feeding on something hatching. within every square meter i would estimate there was 4 or 5 rises every 10 seconds! when I say rises more like supping off the surface. This lasted for about 3/4 hour. I chucked everything at it, from buzzer emergers to midges, I got a couple of little tuggs but nothing firm. As you can imagine by this stage I was ready to chuck my rod, reel and bag into the water and stomp off in a proper huff!

Ive never witnessed anything like that, I know the water was stocked that day, so it could have been those small stockies, but there where definatly some larger fish gorging themselves too. Unfortunatly by that time it was too dark to see what was coming off the water. Anyone any ideas?

The thing about it is, Ive been [course] fishing all my life and Ive had my fair share of droughts, This one is just lasting longer than most... and as my signature puts it...
