Default Favourite Point Fly

Hello All
great forum you have got here, just took up fly fishing again after a good few years and I am learning loads and getting back up to speed from reading all the posts and advice. I am intrigued by buzzer fishing and the use of a dry fly on point to act as a "tempter" and an indicator and cant wait till i go out next time to give it a try. I know everyone has different preferences as to what to use on point depending on conditions at the time and personal experience but I would like to know what your "first" choice would be if you had to pick one and live with the consequences......

p.s I am mainly asking for recommendations for fishing reservoirs and small waters as that is what have access to for now

thanks guys

welcome friend...if I were out on carsington right now I would expect the fish to be "on the nymph" and would think too hard before putting on a grey eyed size 10 hares ear booby on a washing line...with a coral booby and deer hair sedge on the bench...if that dont work try a snatcher

Unsurprisingly, I use a yellow tailed, gold bodied, orange hackled mini-muddler, size 10, well greased. It usually takes more fish than the nymphs.
The washing line is a great method.

Black straggle cormorant booby (black eyes) .

The booby is such a versatile fly which can be used on all lines.

A GRHE with a goldhead bead or a PTN with a goldhead bead are my 2 to pick from for the point fly when I'm not fishing dries.

used to fish a cast of three wets on droppers and ace of spades on point for wild brown trout!(way back in eighties) old fashioned washing line?
droppers would vary depending on time of year bibios, zulus or simillar on top dropper, black and peacock spider or black pennel on second, grenwells glory or mcleods olive on third, but always ace of spades size 8 long shank on point, boat or bank, ace always caught more!(biggest brownie ive caught from leven was on this cast Ace caught it)
moved over to stockie bashing, same casts same results!!
regards
