Default Beanhill Farm, Glos

Good Day all, having just returned from a weekend at this fishery/campsite I felt compelled to put pen to paper proverbially speaking and let the forum know about this little gem in The Forset of Dean!!
My good lady and I arrived on Friday afternoon, were warmly welcomed and given full info by the lady of the farm. The campsite facilities are excellant, clean and tidy, but NOT a holiday resort! no lager louts, no bouncy castles and so on, just a very well kept and well managed site!
The lake itself is in a very small valley immediately behind the campsite, and covers somewhere in the region of about 3 acres (my estimate) it is fairly shallow going to about 10 feet, and crystal clear with a stream running right by and feeding the lake at the same time.
I chatted to a couple of other "campers" (there were only about 10 in total) and got some info, and set about fishing.
Well, what a pleasure, an evening rise that set my mind racing and free feeding fish around weed patches taking Damsels!
A hooper on a dropper 6 ft from the point and a rubber legged Olive Damsel, cast out mid lake, then a mixed retrieve brought me several bow waving follows follwed by my first hook up! To cut a long story short, I ended a two hour session with two fish for the BBQ and three caught and released! All fully finned and good string pullers, average weight of about two and a half pounds!
The next mornings rise was equal to the evening with just as much action and excitment.
The cost was £28 for the weekend camping (Fri eve till Sun lunch) and then we came to an agreement of £30 for the sessions and fish that I had!!
Apparently they do charge £15 for a days c&r for campers normally.
The setting is fabulous, the owners warm and welcoming and the fishing was outstanding.
So I shall be back soon, and I reccomend anyone who likes to camp and fish to give this little gem a go!!

Just googled beanhill, looks lovely. Be a good place to go with the missus. I see they also do B&B. Which is handy as Mrs Anjinsan has a tent allergy, so she says. Thanks for the info Bob.

Quite right Bob, A well run and angler-friendly campsite and lake, nice owners and good fish. Excellent facilities and plenty of nice bridleways and footpaths for the non-fishing members of your party. We found a couple of nice pubs in the evenings too.

A fished Beanhill on Saturday whilst over in the Forest of Dean. Two hours early in the morning resulted in 3 fish, two on daddies (smashed) and the third on a GH PTN, Another couple of hours in the afternoon got me two more fish to a small olive damsel. All fish in great condition, biggest was 3lb, very clear cool water, looking forward to going back.
