Default tippets , leader????

Hi fishermen 1 am new to fly fishing.just wondering when attaching flourocarbon cast to my braided loop is this wrong?????
Should i be attaching it to a tappered leader?
SO i should have my fly line attached to a braided loop, then a tappered leader ,and then tippet /flurocarbon???
Sorry for being a bit of a noobAny help would be gratefully accepted.
One more thing the stuff that you can put on the flurocarbon line so it sinks and the fish cant see it , will this not make my dry fly sink also????
any tips gratefully accepted
thx

Welcome to the forum.

You have not said whether you are fishing on still waters or rivers - or what your casting ability is like.

A tapered leader will help with turnover of your fly (ies) compared with a level length of tippet.

Ideally, you should be fishing with fluoro' for wet patterns and lures as fluorocarbon will sink through the water surface; either nylon or copolymer for dry flies as neither sink so fast as fluoro'.

Kind regards

Thx for the reply,i have been fishing stillwaters,my casting is not great but improving with practice.
If i am fishing dries/sedges do i need to put that stuff on the line that sinks it under the surface, yet still allows my fly to stay on top of the water?
Also the flurocarbon that i am using seems to be floating on the water, should it be sinking?

tie a taperd leader on to the braided loop, the fat side on the loop and the thin end to the fly.

With flurocarbon, take around 10 foot of it or the length of the rod, tie one end on the braided loop and the other to a fly.

just to let you know, flurocarbon sinks anyway, think you are talking about monofilament, the stuff you can put on that is fullers earth or orvis mud is the same. if you put this on the leader it could make the fly sink, this depends on the size of the dry fly you are using

hope this helps you

Whoa, ABT, take a step back, this forum is full of loads of very experienced fishermen that love to help others, they are not just on standby though.
As Phil has wisely stated flouro tends to sink, but if greased up it will float and can be used for drys.
Sometimes as you point out it will float when you want it to sink.
I am not a big fan, and stick to monos , which, with either mucilin or fullers earth will do whichever.
With regard to your set up, for now I would attach a tapered leader to your braided loop, then add two or three feet of a finer tippet, 3lb or 4lb depending where you are fishing, this way it saves your tapered leader and makes it last longer.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.
As you may have gathered, I am not one of the experienced fishermen I mentioned earlier.

Aye right ! Big difference in your grammar and punctuation there from your first two posts to your third one. Why don`t you go and troll on some other forum and give us some peace whoever you are

this is exactly what i expected, the IFFGP i.e Internet Fishing Forum Grammar Police.
Typical snoobish behaviour that i though was limited to golfing forums.
Why do they always have to bring grammar into it ??
And thank you guys for the positive replys regardless of the grammar.
