Count Myself, Mark Haycock, My Dad In...

Actually I recon we could get about 8 or 9 from this area to fish it..

Thanks for getting the info out so early this year.....and for holding it when it's slightly warmer...not in the depths of December like last year !

Oh are you going to run a 3man team event in conjunction with the individual match...like you did a few years ago ?

Is this "open to all", I'll certainly have a go if there are no pre-requisites about having some sort of casting ability. John

Not been to a trout match before so a little bit more info would be nice.

What time does it start? What can you win? Is there a draw for pegs or can you fish where you like?

Every year Farmoor have an annual open match...

It's well supported and the meal in very good (especially compared with the cr4p at Rutland)

Prizes are Tackle and drink etc...

It's a concrete bowl....and it's not pegged so fish anywhere you like..and move when you like..

it's been either no limit as regards fish killed or 8 fish (seems to change each year) depending on how well it's fishing

As for methods...8 times out of 10 it's the booby here that does well...usually 3" coral or a black and green....on a leader anywhere between 10ft and 3ft usually on a fastsinker..

As it's deep all the way round the fish can be close in...but the farther you can cast the better...

Hi all!

Rob - we are just having a singles match this year, getting anglers to arrange themselves into teams, no matter how small, can be a nightmare!

Johnnyboy and Jeltz - You are more than welcome, many look at this match as a social rather than a comp so come along.... Get to Farmoor for about 830, have a bacon sarnie and cup of tea. Fishing is 10 till 4, the bar will be open and food will be about 5 ish.

Can anyone who wants to fish let me know beforehand so that I can let Gill the caterer sort the food out. Email me on damien.wood@thameswater.co.uk

Cheers and look forward to seeing you there!

Our Autumn Open match on Sunday was a great success with 28 anglers having some amazing sport. Most fish were taken on the booby but some were also taken on buzzers despite the sun beating down on a flat calm Farmoor.

1st Roy Palmer 17 fish 30lbs 4oz
2nd John Nicholls 15 fish 26lb 4oz
3rd Ed Trickett 11 fish 22lb 7oz

Best fish on the day fell to Brian Butler with a rainbow of 3lb 6.5oz.

The rod average for the match was a staggering 7.6!
