Arrow new guy help

OK guys, new here and new to fly fishing! My son moved to Colorado and have gotten the bug to fly fish. Here at home to I have a good place to fish for small Mouth Bass, so I was looking at getting a setup with #5 line to be able to fish both bass and trout. First, would that be the right set up and as a first timer, what would be a good line to buy? Thanks for any help!

Not too many people on here that live in the States CJJR - most live in the UK, Ireland and Europe though we have some very experienced 'State-Side' forum members too.

From what I have read and from what I know about small-mouths; you may be able to get away with a #5 outfit but may need a fast actioned 5 weight rod and a punchy, bug-tapered fly line to turn over the flies your will use.

See if you can get on to Washington Fly Fishing forum as there may be more info on there with regards bass rigs etc.

Best of luck

Ben
