He tied a Black and Peacock spider which is supposed to be a good stillwater pattern, for use in a river.

You know what surprised me? It didn't look like it was the first time he had cast a fly rod.

I wonder how he would of felt, if just as he was about to cast to a nice rise......someone came around the bend in a canoe, and shouted.."any luck mate"

Would have loved to see his face... next program= canoes off rivers

Great coverage of Magma Amwell fishery.

If you want to see it again or missed it last night it is shown on BBC IPlayer for a few more days.

Enjoyed the Lee program, great to see some superb fishing on prime time BBC1, obviously , but I also really enjoyed the "back door" into London, and that Sail barge was fantastic.

But have you noticed its wall to wall anti angling across the BBC at the moment?

Griff was on the Sofa of BBC1 Breakfast news this morning. Quite a reasonable interview (for him), but the amount of private waterways hes found has now grown to 97%.

On Sundays Country File the delectable Julia Bradbury got a snipe in during the piece on Wild swimming at 7PM on BBC1. "96% inaccessible".

But earlier in the day on Open Country we came off really badly in the Canoeists vs Anglers debate. The Teifi anglers did us no favors I'm afraid, and IMHO we came off quite badly. Lucky no one listens to Radio4 at 6am

So there we go, a "fantastic" weekends entertainment, all paid for from our license fee.

We're slowly losing the battle, it's downstream from here ...

Would have been funny to see him calling a canoeist an Effing B, as he paddled through the stretch he was fishing.

Hi Chubbychecker,

I just watched the piece on Countryfile. She mentions that only 4% of rivers have undisputed access and that, if in doubt, a potential swimmer should contact the landowner. Would you rather she told people that they can just swim on any river they want to at any time they want to?
