Default sinking my leader

does anybody know how i could sink my leader because yesterday i had a brownie and a rainbow of about 2 pound each but i could see fish turning away last second and i thought it might be my leader

fullers earth or mud, apply an amount between finger and thumb and pull leader through,

I use the fullers earth mix ,but some days even using fluoro it just dont want to sink, other days it wont stay afloat it depends alot on the surface film which is more likely to be tough to get through in calm conditions. gaz
