Default Intermediate line

Good afternoon all, many thanks to all those who replied to my last post 'difference between dry and wets'.

I currently use a floating line (weight forwards) and i manage it fine i even caught 2 fine 2lb trout on Osgoodby lake in North Yorkshire last month. My question is i have a spare spool and im wondering what would be the best line to put on it would it be intermediate line so i could maybe fish deeper during fish not feeding on the surface for example. Ive only been fly fishing for 2 months so any info greatly received.

all the best

Cookie,
Depends upon the depth of where you fish, if it's really deep or your fishing from a fast drifting boat a faster sinker may be a better chioce. If it's not so deep an intermidiate would be my chioce. Also you can buy a sinking poly leader to give you pretty much a sink tip.

I'm very tempted to tell you to get a DI3.but if you are only going to be bank fishing then an inter that sinks at 1.5ips will be a good choice.Get in touch with the Pirate on here for a good line at a good price.

As has been mentioned...it's all about the depth of water your fishing...

Firstly get an Airflo Intermediate (1.5" per second sink rate) "Poly Leader" for about £5 you connect this to the front of your floater and you'll have a Midge tip...and you can take it off as and when you want too.

Personally i wouldn't bother with the rest of the range....only the clear intermediate...

This will allow you to fish the washing line method (small eyed booby on the point and nymphs on the droppers) or fish standard flies deeper.

A Di-3 is a good choice, as is a fast intermediate......

Default Many Thanks

THank you for all your replies which have given me a better understanding of intermediate lines, i think i will go for the Di3 as i will be mainly fishing small still waters and rivers but for reservoirs i think i may go to the sinking leader at a faster sink rate.

thanks again
