Anyone fished cound and/or ellerdine in the last week or so? How are they fishing?

Not lately I'm afraid, but Ellerdine is far more consistent and was certainly fishing well early season. In fact I don't think I've ever had a bad day there

I know i've had some really good days there, and two cracking days there earlier in the season. Reason i ask about cound is, personally, i find it a good fishery, so long as you know what you're doing! The biggest problem i find with cound is when the weather is inconsistent it can suffer a bit, and as the weather has been so over the last week thought i'd see if anyone had been.

I spend a bit of time, maybe 4 weeks a year in Newport, Shropshire, can anyone recommed any rivers to fish for trout, around that area.

Thanx Dave

I live 5 mins from Newport......and haven't yet found any decent river trout sport nearby. There's clubs such as Gamefishers with good beats, but no day tickets and its all south shropshire - an hour from Newport. For a modest membership you could join Hodnet Angling Club, who have some limited trout fishing on the Tern north of Newport, but I haven't tried it - "limited" is the key word I think. Its stillwater fishing in the area really. Best bet IMHO is Ellerdine. Loynton v close, but I don't much like the place.

Cound is one of those places that seems like it should be better than it is. How much is down to the fishery, how much down to the "quirky" management style?...hmmm....

Just remembered, I have been told that Tern Fish Farm (Market Drayton) have some river fishing, but all I found googling about was this, so you'd need to ring and see if its still available:

If you give it a go, let me know how you get on!
