Default Environment Agency

In all the years and waters I have fished, I have never seen a water that the EA has maintained or maintains in any shape or form. I have never seen EA doing any work on waters near me.

Has anyone, apart from EA bailiffs on here, ever seen these people doing a days work on our rivers and stillwaters?

Often see them around and about in the Oxford area, mainly clearing debris from sluice gates etc on the Isis system, Castle Mill Steam in particular, mainly, I feel, this is as a result of flooding 2 years ago and the EA have to be seen as pro-active in this particular area.

Also, last year substantial bank repairs have taken place along the Thames in Oxford, although carried out by contractors I am sure its funded by the EA.

Not me, although I did have my licence checked at Rutland this season.

your having a laugh

the very rivers quality you fish are a direct result of them, why do you need to see them, if you had an emergency on your club/day ticket stillwater as in lack of oxygen they will probably be the ones to come and sort it out for you you wouldnt be complaining about not seeing them then would you

Definitely EA employees, or at least they are always in vehicles with EA logo on.

The only time I've ever seen anyone from the EA was about six years ago. The guy was on our firm, a paper mill at Oughtibridge, north of Sheffield, taking water samples from the River Don.

I told him he should come back when they were discharging stuff from a concrete pipe from our boiler house into the river - whatever it was put a foam on the water.

He tried to tell me that it must be from a weir a hundred yards upstream. That's funny I told him, there was no foam upstream of the concrete pipe!

He wasn't interested.

Rivers quality? thats a good one, how do they go about performing that miracle, filtered rain perhaps? How do they manage in Scotland I wonder without the EA.

I know that locally to me the EA have been involved in the construction of a lagoon downstream of Cricklade to improve fry survival in the Upper Thames, and have in recent years seeded a number of the Thames tributaries with trout ova.
