Default Wye and Usk Gauges

Can anyone explain in simple terms for someone with a simple brain exactly how to interpret the levels shown on the Wye and Usk webcam gauges. I have puzzled over them for a long time but neither understand the increments on the two measures or the relationship to the given normal level. Excuse me for being a bit thick. The only time I can make sense of them is when they are completely submerged. ATB, Alan

Default the gauges...

...are in increments of feet and inches when the water is on 2 it means the river is running at 2 feet. if the rivers normal summer level is 6 inches then the river is running 1 and a half feet above normal summer level. i am sorry to sound sarcastic but it really is that simple. any other info on the wye or usk just shout. jon.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who looked at them like a dog watching someone do a card trick !

In then end i rang up those nice people at the W&U office and said "please tell me, what exactly is this telling me ?"

So now i know exactly when the river is unfishable , but i generally conclude - B*llocks I'll go anyway !
