Default BBC Look North tonight

.. Cumbria/North East region. Hopefully, a couple of minutes of fishing positives this evening. A film crew were at Stonebridge trout lakes today doing a feature on juniors taking up fly fishing; they filmed a few youngsters fishing and interviewed them for a piece to be broadcast tonight (Wednesday).
Maybe some good publicity in advance of the Junior Troutmasters final at Stonebridge this weekend.

Hmm..I fished there once and lasted an hour.It epitomises everything I loathe about small stillwater fishing - overstocked with fat great puddings and fished by too many people who have to give a running commentary to their mates liberally sprinkled with f**ing this and f***ing that .I returned to the Swale with relief...

The times I have fished Stonebridge, albeit not many recently, I have never experienced any foul language whatsoever coming from anyone.
I'm sure the owner would see off anyone that mistreats his fishery with disrespect whether it be bad language or anything else for that matter.
On the occasions we visited Stonebridge we found the management team very friendly hosts and they couldn't do enough to ensure we had an enjoyable days fishing.
Speak as you find by all means but if other fishermen are abusing the rules then you can always report the matter to the manager, after all the lodge is virtually on the bank side.

Dunno. More porkies from the BBC??
They took away over 30 mins of footage to be edited down and were pretty sure it was going to be transmitted Wednesday.
No sign of it Thursday either? I had the choice of fishing or staying in to watch Look North. No contest.

Mr Grayson - pretty churlish comments. I don't think it's overstocked; in fact the fish are very wary and not easy to catch. I enjoy the Swale too and yesterday managed to do Stonebridge in the morning and the river in the afternoon. Whatever, it's a spate river and has been pretty much unfishable on many occasions over the past few months so it's good to have a few small stillwaters in the area for when the river is out of action. Also one of the points of the post was to highlight getting kids out and involved in fishing, which is something that can be done more easily and safely at small stillwaters. In fact, another thing that the Stonebridge owner does. On two Sundays this year, he will forego his paying customers and the local salmon & trout association will host a 'juniors day' where the place is opened up for beginners and kids to receive casting tuition from instructors and getting a chance to fish the lake. The next one is August 22nd; Pop in, you might be pleasantly surprised.
