Thumbs down sightfree G3 fluorocarbon

I am having trouble with this particular brand of fluorocarbon and wonder if anyone has experienced similar problems. I have been using the same three turn water knot for my droppers for many years and have never had any trouble with breaks.Using this brand I have been broken several times. The break is always on the main line right next to the water knot never on the dropper itself. The knot is moistened before tightening and tested and most times at this point it is ok, but as soon as a fish takes hold of the dropper fly it breaks. It is as if it is cutting through itself. I never get broken if the fish takes the tail fly.I have also tried a four turn water knot with the same results.I am now using another brand of fluorocarbon and have no problems.
I purchased several 100mtr.spools of sightfree G3 in 5lb,6lb,and 8lb b.s on the recommendation of a well known angler who swears by it and writes in an eqally well known magazine.
Any comments greatly appreciated.

Never had any problems with tucked blood knots for flies or three turn water knots for droppers, except when I hooked two at once.

I had exactly this problem when I first started earlier this year, two or three times snapped up in this way, also using a 3 turn water knot to make a dropper. I did a direct comparison as my friend had a different brand of the same breaking strain. Results: Sightfree G3 - 3 takes, 3 breaks, no fish on bank, other brand 2 takes, no breaks, 2 fish on bank.

My solution was the same as yours, stop using it.

I am curious as to why I had this problem though, I did wonder if it was a dodgy batch or something.

Had exactly the same issues last season with this Fluoro, several breakages on 6lb line almost all when the fish hit the fly.

Some people suggested a 2 turn water knot but I'm afraid I lost all confidence in the product...switched to Fulling Mill this season and (touch wood) have not been broken yet.

Same for me tried it once and I won't be going back, even had a dodgy spool of fulling mill once it must have got damp or something. I am using the spiderwire from Grommit now in various strenghs - no problems yet and it doesn't kink up like some fluro after you have had a few fish on it.

Not one I would ever use again, find it too fine and springy and breaks easy, prefer to use Mamba ,though this brand now seems a thing of the past,so now onto spiderwire which is excellent.

If cost is important and get a good value product you wont beat spiderwire.I can never see me paying some prices for fluro that are going around on some brands.

I did have trouble with this line. I found switching to the Davy knot for the flies helped a lot, then taking extra time to form the water knot and lubricating it well also helped. I still get snapped occasionally, but now its usually due to a wind knot.
