Default Tapered tippet for dry fly fishing

Morning everyone.

Can anyone suggest a decent tapered tippet leader to use for dry flies please. I'm not too sure if they have recently changed the Orvis Super Strong ones i used to use but they now seem to float really offensively. I've used some mud etc on them, but I can't seem to stop them floating, and the presentation looks poor.

Any advice please? Many thanks.

Nickyh,

The Varivas tapered leaders are made with special profiles - 40% butt, 40% tapered and 20% fine tippet end for better turnover - a wipe with fullers earth and they sink well.

Althernatively, consider using a furled tapered leader for really decicate presentation, with your favourite tippet material - the furled leader floats naturally or can be made to sink with fullers earth or orvis Mud.

Kind regards

Thanks for the info mate.

If I were to tie on a tippet material for the final 2-3 feet, which would you suggest is the best (in terms of sinking the best). I'd use it in 2-3lb most of the time.
