Default ferox

can anyone tell me what exaclty a ferox is i can never get a straight answer, ive caught many small brown trout on spinners and fish immitation flies so i dont understand when people say they turn cannibalistic every brown trout has an element of predetory instinct dont they?

also ive noticed on other sites people say if it has a hooked jaw its a ferox doesnt every cock fish have a hooked jaw? confusing subject but an interesting one..this might sound daft but why isnt there a ferox rainbow trout or is there?
