Default Fishing in South Wales

Hi, I am visiting relatives in South Wales in Mid August, could anyone reccommend a small, quiet fishery, in the Port Talbot / Neath area.
Thanks,
Ste.

Abernant is nearby at about 3-4 acres or theres Glyncorrwg although this is small and not very inviting looking to fish. You also have Tyn Y Graig at Crynant which is 2 number 2 acre ponds. If you want bigger then you have Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir at British Steel and Penderyn Reservoir at Hirwaun although the fish aren't playing ball there at the moment. If you can go a bit further try Garnffrwd for a superb fishery and quality surroundings and fish.

Thanks, I'll read up on Hirwaun as I'll only be staying about a half hour from there and Garnffrwd sounds promising too. As for the fish not playing ball I'm used to that!!!

No worries, Garnffrwd is an excellent smallwater of about 5 acres. Jamie the owner is a friendly and helpful guy who has a gem there.

Heres the link to the website

Regarding Penderyn, when it's on song it's a good fishery but looking at the catch book theres only one or two, if any coming out each day at the moment despite up to 20 anglers visiting there regularly. Just a little further away you have Beacons Reservoir and Cantref Reservoir or if you fancy saltwater fly fishing you have the Gower with some good places for bass.

Thanks once again for the advice, I'm just getting back into fly fishing after a ten year lay-off! I have just checked out the Garnffrwd website and it looks terrific. We visit South Wales 4 or 5 times a year so if I don't manage them all this trip I'll keep them in mind for the future.
