Default Bibio

Does this awesome pattern ever stop producing ???

The bibio is out fishing everything at the moment and has been consistently producing the goods on harelaw since opening day, so much for being an early season pattern.

what traditionals are working on other waters ?

Hi Alex,

I have been having some good success with a green arsed Katie snatcher and another Katie variant with red tail and red goose biots.

Remember them taking a few at Harelaw.........

The Kate Mclaren is another traditional fly thats worth having in the box,
Especially in size 12s.

The bibio is an awesome fly on Brenig. I've usually got one (or a variant) on my top dropper regardless of what line I'm using.

Pre Rainbow days on your water a Loch Ordie was a good summer fly.
As for what does well on the waters I fish.
I can not see past a Soldier Palmer or a Kate Mac Laren. Some days the red others the black. Bibio is good but A Black Zulu will work just as well if that is what they want I have found. An Invicta is a good stand bye on the tail never for "a bag" but on occasion the biggest of the day.

Bibio is a top fly with the deadly red and black combo. A great top dropper pattern for me in a small bibio blob version with a big hackle. The originals take some beating though.

Was asking a mate the other day what all the fuss is about with the Bibio , I have tried it many times and never had a fish on one

For me at the moment it Sooty olive bumble on the top and middle and point are Green peters in different sizes and one will always have a red **** . Is catching me lots of fish day after day , was 5 today upto 2.5 lb

The Bibio is one of my favourite flies, next to the Kate McLaren, and I was looking for some black and red Bibios to top up my box and I found a dry version of the Kate McLaren on the site below. I'll be having a few of them to try out.
