Close but no cigar UFlyMan, nowhere near Glasgow, better start in Edinburgh.
Phoxinus, ask
arthur.howes@virgin.net. I haven't been since last Sept when it was good as ever, though wet. Although that's a much more up-to-date report than the Malleny website. I envy you, don't catch them all, I'm going in September. I was up to my middle there one year when my mobile rang and, joy oh joy, I was able to say "I can't talk to you now, I've got a trout on the other line."
I should have said that Harlaw (no e) is the friendliest and one of the most scenic places I've fished. If they think you're not catching quickly enough one of the Malleny members will give you good advice and one of his sure flies. The ticket covers a lot of the adjacent Threepmuir (Brownies only) as well. Pics are at the Malleny website in Esk's post, as are the price and catch limit details.
I agree about the mud but it can be avoided. Wading isn't too bad in spite of the steep shelving, the water's pretty clear. Main snag I find is it's a bit of a trek from the car park in waders.
I withdraw my comment about the up-to-dateness of the website, sorry Arthur if you're listening, I looked at the catch return dated2005 not the 2009 report in Club News.
If you're fishing on Sunday get a ticket on Saturday, especially as Wee Jimmy says you can't get one from the Bailiff.
