I have had one and it is a very nice all round rod.

What I would say is that, dependent on your exact requirement, there may be better rods for that money or similarly good rods for a lot less cash.

Sorry

You might want something lighter for rivers, but for lochs a 10' 7# is perfect. Did you make a mistake? don't know, how does it feel to you?

I think an 9ft rod would have suited you better m8.

Hi TT, Dont know about the river but I use a 10ft 7wt Z axis on the loughs all the time. I find it a great rod and cant see why you should have any problems with it. I think there a great piece of kit.

Do you like the rod?

If the answer is yes, then yes mate, you have

I nearly got the same rod but was told it's too stiff and fast for river stuff.
but you want it for both, so I'd say you've got a nice rod yes

Have you bought the right rod for what? You don't mention any of the conditions, although I guess some can be assumed from the fact that you mention lough fishing, but for rivers?

Rods should be bought to match fishing conditions, not anglers. There is no "one and only" rod for you. A good angler chooses a rod to match the conditions and then adjusts his casting and fishing accordingly.

Surely this is not completely true!!

I agree you need to buy the correct length, weight, flex etc for the type of fishing you do. But if when you cast with said rod it feels completely wrong in your hands, you don't think well it's the right rod for the conditions so I'll buy it anyway wouldn't you try and find a rod that suits both the type of fishing your going to be doing and also feels good to cast
