Default Elinor TF

I'm doing a day up there with my club in beginning of September.

I fished it once last year and blanked (apart from a monstrous 4oz pike!)

I will be most likely limited to Bank fishing so, what i wanted to know was A) Whats the bank fishing like and B) How necessary is wading

Oh, and what flies to use

Cheers

Make sure you have a good selection of dries......especially dadies. Fish them along the bank and don't worry if there is nowt rising, they'll still come up. The more wind the better for this to work but it rarely fails for me. Wading is not essential but useful in certain areas.

Good luck!

I think you definitely need waders or at least wellies - just too much bankside vegetation to contend with in most places.

I agree daddies are good that time of year and would favour a three fly rig with a dry daddy on the point a DB and a cruncher. If the fish are a bit deeper replace the dry daddy with a damsel nymph or wet daddy.

Other strategies are the bung with buzzers or a buzzer on the dropper and a small weighted blob about 4 feet down.

Finally, single lures such as a cat or an apps bloodworm on a slow inter or a floater.

Ask Ed or Mick (the old boy sometimes in the lodge) where is best but the boat area, dam and East arm are my most consistent areas.

If it was me, i'd be hoping Ed is there, not Mick! Ed is a top chap and will put you on fish for sure.
