Jobsons in alnwick as well as Hardys factory shop sell tickets for 7 mile fishing on River Aln. Chatton fishery wont be to far away. Estuary fishing on the Aln I've heard can be great for sea trout

haven't been just what I've read

Are you going to be fly fishing in the salt or are you taking sea gear as well?
The Aln at Alnmouth is full of flatfish as are the beaches either side, worth chucking a fly at definitely. Craster and Dunstunburgh Castle and the area surrounding are rough ground marks where if fly fishing you will probably be able to have a go at pollock, coalfish and the mackerel if they are in. It's probably worth having a chuck anywhere up the coast line for fish, beaches for the flatfish and the rock marks for the coalfish and pollock. Many many little nooks and crannies to explore.

Freshwater, depends on how far you want to travel. Caistron Lakes is beautiful just outside of rothbury, worth a visit in my opinion. Rivers there's also the coquet and wansbeck which I believe sell day tickets (not sure too much on the details of the coquet though)

I dont currently have a saltwater set up for fly fishing but i though about getting something for the trip. If you have any advice on the kit for this. That would be great?

I have a 7/8# 9.6ft rod (that i use on the resi) and a 3# 7ft for the little river near me, thought i might take that with me on the family walks if i come across any streams or river as im sure we did last time.

Im going to try to get names of the places we will travel to and match those up with that which you provided.

Im going to take my saltwater beach caster rod and spinning rod and do that with the girlfriends dad as he knows the location (i don't, though i stayed there last year for a week) he doesn't fly fish though so im on my own for that so any info like that provided is great

cheers

If you pop into my shop in Morpeth (30 minutes from Alnmouth) and see Davy or Brian, they know all the beach fishing marks along there and would be happy to help

What Grommit said, really… I would add though that there's a nice rock mark, Marden skeers, just at the top of the beach at Alnmouth, although you'll have to watch your timing to get on it at low tide.

Alnmouth's a really lovely spot, probably my favourite Northumberland beach.

Does any one have any tactics to use when fishing for the different species Flatties, Bass etc anything which is likely to be found around there. i Just got a kit and have a intermediate line, do i want a floating or sinking also. What kind of flies will need. I have a small selection of pike flies, some sand eel and "supertinsel Bass Streamers"

Cheers

Hi Leicfly,

Some good help and advice there already but if you need any more PM me and i can point you to specific rock marks for pollock, wrasse and mackerel and also beach marks for flounder and turbot, i fished that coast a lot with the local sea angling club.

As has been said there are some lovely lakes and rivers in that area as well. A trip to Grommits shop will get you all the info you need
