Hey Guys,
Ive got a particularly boring course booked on the 12th+13th of August in Stratford, is there anyone up that neck of the woods that fancies a fish or can point me at some day ticket fishing nearby?

The evening of the 12th is when i plan to get out fishing.

Im up for anything as long as its on fly!

You will see that there is virtually no river fishing in the area.

Given that fact, I think I'd use it as an excuse to try out a half day ticket at Blenheim Palace. Haven't been but it looks a pleasant place to spend an evening swishing a rod around.

Woodstock (Blenheim) is quite a drive from Stratford, and there's still no river fishing.

This place is nearer www.lencheslakes.co.uk just outside Evesham, and very friendly.

As Roy very rightly points out there is not really any proper river trouting to be had near Stratford. There are some trout in the upper reaches of the Alne, Stour and Arrow but I don't think there are any day tickets available for any of these rivers.
You could of course try your hand at some pike on the Avon but apart from that your looking at a trip south to the Windrush or Coln.

The tackle shop in Stratford will sell Avon tickets 01789 293950, but, certainly when I last visited, they did not know much about flyfishing.

Baileys of Warwick, a few miles away, have fly fishermen "in residence" 01926 491984.

Also, give Paul Vernon a call at Lyttles of Dunchirch 01788 817044 - he's mainly a salmon man, but has done a lot of ffishing for pike.
