Default blank days

what the most amount of times you have blanked in a row?

i've been out now 7 times and have caught absolutely nothing!!! the first 3 times i was fly fishing and thought it was me not fishing right so i went back to the old worm and hook and still nothing also anyone who was with me never caught anything either, am i bad luck or something i've fished 3 loughs with 1 being stocked about 5 weeks ago and i've also fished a smallish river, i know the fish are there as they are comming up to the top and sometimes jumping right out of the water. i just can't figure out whats going on

May I suggest you don't try salmon fishing.

That's why it's called fishing; and not catching! Stop worrying about it, relax and enjoy your fishing! You'll catch something eventually; hopefully?

dj what is your typicle set-up and how do you fish it as 7 in a row is a bit worrying even on the Irish lochs, more so if they are stocked.

i am enjoying it, a bit of free time to myself with no girlfriend moaning on about nothing, but after this many times fishing i just want to catch something especially on my fly rod as i was told today that when i do i'll never go back to worms and floats.

it's 8 times now as i went out for a few more hours after i started this thread. the times i've fly fished i've usually tried to match what flies are about, then i'd try a fly that is highly rated on here like an adams para, then after a while and still no bites i would change to a orange blob and still nothing, however i was talking to a few anglers and they are all saying the same that nothing is biting anywhere for some unknown reason

when i went out this evening nothing at all on the float and bottom using worms then a polish fella arrived and on his first cast a trout was hooked in about 2min, i went over to see how he did it and he was using shrimp/prawns, then after about 5min he had another trout and a roach. he offered me some and as much as i was tempted i couldn't as its not allowed on this lough. maybe the fish have got onto the shrimp and thats what they're all waiting for?

Don't worry about it. When i started i went through blank after blank, probably about 5 or 6 in a row. Once you catch things will turn around. It's almost like the fish are attracted to an angler with confidence! Seriously.

Best thing that happened to me confidence wise was catching 4 fish and losing countless more on Lake of Menteith one day. Once you catch a couple you lose the belief that you are doing something wrong!
