thats a good question. I thought a leader that floats would be preferable but ive seen a thread here about getting leaders to sink even when using a dry fly.

All i know is that tipet should be matched to your leaders x rating, ie if you have a 4x leader, you would use 4x tippet.

I'm not keen on fluoro for dries as it is very stiff. I do like Rio Powerflex, Snowbee Magic line, Okuma Sensitech (hard to find) and occasionally, Stroft.
The Rio is my usual choice.

Co-polymer for me. Orvis super-strong, or Hardy, with tippet material to match the leader diameter, e.g. 5x to 5x.

Either Rio Powerflex co-polymer or maxima ultragreen in 3 or 2lb. Horses for courses but both great.

Default Leader

Rio tapered leader with rio tippet or sometimes stroft is wot I use for river dry fly. I think fluroucarbon can make a difference at times.

Used to use mamba fluro ,now cant get it so have moved on to Spider wire,no problems at all with any of these. But its all down to preference and how much you can afford to spend on tippet material I suppose.

No fancy-dan fluoro/copolymers for me I use Maxima Clear or Ultragreen.
