Hi Folks, The EA are doing a consultation just now, hey are trying to get rid of the close season for brown trout and salmon in stocked waters.

Good idea ?

I am not in favour of this. But with triploid trout in an enclosed stillwater (no spawning facility) then I find it hard to argue against it.

Agree, with landlocked triploids, no probem at all.

What would be the situation where a fishery stocked both Triploid and spawning capable fish. would that mean that there would be a closed season or a no closed season?.

Alan and more

no problem at all with this, also most of the waters I fish have a closed season anyway so you can't fish for nearly three months of the year.

If there's a natural strain, running feeder streams, then there's a close season.
