Default Best ever wild brownie

Just returned from an evening session at Forrest Hills near Lancaster.
After hooking and losing a rainbow on the lake I decided to try the river Condor which runs alongside. Never fished it before as access is down a steep bank but the water level was well up so tried a cast from the top of the bank.
Second run through a fish took my sedge and after a hectic struggle to get down to the riverside through the undergrowth, I managed to net a beautiful brownie around 3lb. My biggest ever, and my first from running water!!!
Too tricky to unhook and return there, so clambered up the bank, landing net and fish in left hand, rod in right. Half way up, lost footing, put right hand down to prevent falling, and snapped the reel from it's rod mount!
Never mind.....fish was returned safely and reel will hopefully glue!!
Remainder of session not very easy as I had the reel in my left pocket, with enough line out for casting, which wasn't very easy as the rod was somewhat imbalanced with no reel.
Trials and tribulations but a great feeling!!

Well done pondlife - an unforgettable way to start and sounds like a cracking fisf. Bigger brownie than I've ever caught anyway

Well done PL, I will have to check this river Condor out, 3lb brownies are not to be sniffed at.

Congratulations and well done for returning it, would like to think I'd be prepared to go to so much trouble to release a fish but have my doubts.
