Question Relocating to Yorkshire, where to flyfish???

Hello guys

I am about to relocate to West Yorkshire after 34 years in Denmark. Here I have done alot of sea trout flyfishing from the coast (very popular and effective here) and sea trout and salmon flyfishing in the rivers here.
Can anyone tell me what there is to find in the Yorkshire area? I have heard a little of salmon fishing in the river Hodder but I do not know how easy, or expensive, it is to get to fish there. Any help will be much appreciated.

Jesper

Jes[er,
Welcome to God's country. There is heaps of fly fishing around West Yorkshire for trout, grayling, sea trout and salmon.
I only fish for trout and grayling but others will tell you about sea trout and salmon which would be towards the west.
For trout and grayling almost all the rivers around us are accessible in some way. I fish the Wharfe, the Ure, Driffield Beck, Eden and others. These are all within a short drive from West Yorkshire.
When you know your location, give me a shout and I will get a more refined water list for you.
Also google Yorkshire fly fishing, you will be amazed.

Thank you very much for this. I will be living in Ilkley with the River Wharfe almost at the back of the garden. I have never done any grayling or trout fishing, but I guess it is never too late to learn. :-)

I wasnt going to point out that he has moved to the wrong bit of the county . I am sure he will work that out himself.

Bolton Abby is close and IIRC has day ticket water.

Right in the middle of it then! Poole, Addingham, Burnsall, Bolton Abbey: and that's just the Wharfe! The Nidd is in the next valley!

You lucky, lucky man!

Tranlated this mean to go out on Ilkley Moor without a hat is not a good idea.

And yes, Yorkshire is a lovely county, areas to the west and North of Sheffield are extremely pretty.
