Should I NAME + SHAME the boatman/ghillie from Ireland whom i sent £1000 of flies believing that his cheque had been cleared. I had a letter 10 days after sending them stating that it was a STOP PAYMENT. I have been charged by the bank, also the rate difference.
I called him a mate, as i have been tying for him for many years, but no longer. He will not answer to my calls, I have tried many times, he has been told to contact by his family, he has ignored my request to talk to him!!
I know that he is a member on this forum, I hope he reads this and realises what he is doing if I was to name him. I will wait a short time and see if i get a answer from him now.

that is a lot of hard work and time m8 sad someone you had faith in has done that to you i possibly think you should inform other members who it was so as they dont get stung as £1000 in this day and age is a very serious amount of cash

Can a Stop Payment also refer to incifficient funds in the account? Or can it only be from a cancelled cheque?

NAME and SHAME HIM .

You have to mate or someone else will get stung by the same loser.

And if he is other forums which he might be i would put a note on that site too.

Hopper, My heart says name them, but head says hold back. The reason being in the case of bad debts if you start naming people it can open up a load of legal nonsense you could do without. My advice is to invoice again stating that you require payment within seven days, add to this the amount of interest that will be charged should the payment be late. Follow this on the eighth day with a letter stating it will be your intension to pursue the matter through the courts. Most importantly do not let the matter go.

I think I would name and shame, the fact he won`t answer any of your calls speaks volumes. I had a similar experience over a loan to a so called friend.
