FMTC were terrible for that kind of funny business
How about some terrible examples of service.
Recently I heard about a guy who spent about £1,500 on a hardy rod , reel, spool and lines to find out a week later that his “new” rod was not new at all. The tackle dealer had previously hired the rod out for the day in order for an angler to test it and it was that angler (in the same syndicate) who pointed out a unique point about the thread work of the butt ring. The thread work wasn’t considered a defect and so the dealer refused to replace it with a new one from the factory, he even denied hiring out rods on such a basis…even though he is well known for this sort of practice. He can only guess how many people may have used the rod before it was bought “new”.
Then there is the fishery that claims to stock fish that anglers often don’t see caught. Miraculously catches by unknown anglers appear in the book after all the other anglers have left. Now the anglers who know the water will only pay to fish when they themselves see evidence of fish.
