I had a trip to my local lake today, just a couple of hours, got there at 0900, started fishing at about 0930, a bit chilly and very windy, so by 1200 I'd had my fill, three fish and one lost, on walking back to my car one of the guys who was fishing said to me," I see you got a few fish, what fly did you catch on?" I told him what he wanted to know, Then he remarked, " Only three fish in three hours, not very good, one fish an hour", my reply, " Surely that's better than you've done , no fish in three hours." The things some people come out with, amazing........

What was his reply to that ???

should've put your gear down..and with all sincerity asked to help sort out where he was going wrong...it helps if you tilt your head slightly to one side,crinkle your nose and bite your lip...just a lil' bit
