Default Line stop position

What would you all consider to be the optimum distance from fly line end for positioning the line stop on a sinking line....I'm thinking general purpose boat fishing here, with a 10' rod?

Thanks,
Matt

What is the best way to mark an intermediate line to avoid too much being retrieved?

Ah with you now! None for me when boat fishing bring them right back and dangle.
Thinking about this a little more, although I don't have a mark on my lines 10ft would be about right! leaving room for rod lift and the dangle.

I go for 5' and 15' marks on all sinking lines, hang at the first mark, 15', then adjust accordingly till you 'hang' it again at 5'.

Try using 2mm Dia Heatshrink (in its recovered state), in Red & Yellow, about 1/2" Red, then slide the yellow over approx 1/4", and apply heat again. Gives you a nice Barred effect, easy to spot and slips through the rings easily too.

Dont apply too much heat as your line will melt.....

Thanks Jim, I had the marker on my SA type 3 at about 15' and that seemed to work ok. I've just acquired a new di3 and di5 and I just wanted to see if anyone did things differently....
