found this n a trout's stomach when cleaning him out yesterday.
Any ideas as to what it is?

Its a toss up between weed or phlegm.....

No idea atall but one i had today was just full of snot like that and a few other colours also yet no sign of actual food There is **** loads of sedge hatching yet i not see one in that fish

Seriously though,I reckon its a type of filamentous algae.Ive seen something very similar draped around hard stemmed weeds such as potomogeton or amphibious bistort.
The trout can ingest this sort of stuff whilst picking at small items such as water mites.....which I'm fairly sure I can see a couple of in that spooning.

Nope , mine was a wild fish and the one twincast had was stocked in March i think ..
