The chap at Grafham, is the loudest you will ever hear! Friendly enough though, but my God deafeningly loud!
One of the ladies in the shop is rather rude, the other very friendly. The crazy thing is though that the general lack of helpfullness must cost them business, I know I have bought things elsewhere becasue of this.
The other day I went to Rutland, and a sign on the door said re-open at 3, at 10 past I wandered off to find a warden, who said 'he's tying to do paperwork and keeps getting disturbed'..............DISTURBED.............by customers presumably like me wanting to buy things!?
Eventually it re-opened and the chap inside was 'happy', as you could imagine!
Sometimes I wonder if these resevoirs and some of their staff have things too easy commercially, becasue I know for sure if I approached my business with the same occasional apathy and rudeness, I wouldnt have one for long?
I know we all have off days, but this is business.
By contrast, and I know an entirely different scene, I would say the staff at Avington are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Lechlade by comparison didnt seem so friendly.
I guess we are all different so our expectations are all different, the only thing is its how your customers perceive you that dictates whether they will ever come back again.
For decent tackle purchases now, sadly its almost impossible to shop locally, so we poddle off to Sportfish in Reading, where quite simply quality and service is 'Top Drawer'.
I know not really relevant but by comparison, all 'peeps' associated with running river clubs and syndicates, I have found to be incredibly helpfull, and seemingly like the guys at Sportfish Reading, very knowledgable and quite happy to pass that knowledge on to others.
As you say, nothing wrong said, but I would like to think that some of the peeps who may read this who maybe work in the fisheries business, could maybe count to 10 before they speak to their 'clients', therefore sorting out their approach to questions in a polite and curteous manner.
