I was out fising with my first attempt up wing dries tonight Ginger Quills to be precise in size 16.
I got to the river around 7pm and by 7.45pm I had 4 fish on my flies
The first 2 were around 4/5" and the next 2 were abour 6/7" just too small to take.
I moved up the water of wich about 1/4 of a mile is too slow/calm but I tried to no avail but when reaching the intersection where a small stream meets the main flow there were quite a few fish moving in the turbulant water.
I watched for a minute then cast to a fish it drowned the fly straight away but never took it. Next I fished for around 5mins then hooked into a good fish I guesstimate around 1-1 1/2lb I fought it for about 3/4 minutes up and down the pool struggled to get the net ready (complete numpty had it tucked into his bag

) and after all that it slipped the hook on the way down stream I only had 2 scales to show for the fight gutted I was.
But still a great night.
