Default A (nother) polite request.....

Hi,
I was in Wales at the weekend hill training for a walking expedition to New Zealand later in the year and stayed at the riverside campsite in Crickhowell.

The river in question is the Usk and although I did not have any gear with me (DOH!!!) this time, the river looked so good I am planning a return trip. Could anyone who knows the stretch at Crickhowell or local to it kindly help with permit costs and tackle shop locations etc ? I have read the write up in this months T@S by the way but don`t fancy spending £700 for a couple of days fishing.

One other water I passed was called (I think) penderryn reservoir and controlled by the Mountain Ash flyfishers. Anyone have any info on the club, permits etc ?

Thanks in advance for your help,
All the best,
Andy.

Hi finnock and welcome to the Forum.

"The River Usk"

I would re-ask your question on the above thread. It's a mine of information and very popular. I'm certain that some of the Usk regulars there will help you out with better info than I can supply.

Finnock,
May I also suggest a visit to:
www.wyeuskfoundation.org
Loads of info on the beats and prices.

As for tackle shops, Sportfish is close by at Winforton and in Brecon town on one of the industrial estates you have Fishtec as well.

Penderyn is a 20 acre water with day permits available from the Newsagent at Hirwaun. Excellent fishing at a very reasonable price.
