Default River Ayr Info Wtd

Years ago I fished a stretch of The R Ayr ,near Annbank but it was a tkt from a farm so was a short stretch near the main Rd and a Railway Viaduct .I was reminded of this when looking yesterday at a Davie McPhail vid on Youtube where he is fishing the river .

Anyone know anything about decent parts of it for trout?

I did try a search on here but nothing turned up. I have passed the bit with the Stepping Stones ( near Mainholm off the A77?) and it looked interesting .

Default River Ayr

Hi Molley

I know that the river source is at Glenbuck near Muirkirk

This was a very good loch to fish years ago

I do believe that Muirkirk angling club took over this loch and put rainbows into it

I am pretty sure that some of our forum members are from that neck of the woods and will be able to give you some info that you need

good luck

John aka annanman

You can still get a day ticket for the streches of water around Annbank the last i heard you get the ticket for the Annbank club water in the local shop in Annbank.
I believe the water around the stepping stones area belongs to Ayr Angling club and a day ticket can be bought in Gamesport of Ayr the shop is in the Sandgate area of the town. There is also good pool a few hundred yards down the water from the stepping stones called the Craigie pool which hold good trout/salmon when the water is in good order.
