Default River irvine

Hi, I live in irvine and used to fish the river irvine, but stopped as it started to decline and the quality of the fish was very poor. i am interested if anyone has fished it lately and to see how its fishing as i may get a permit.
any info helpful
Thanks
Tom(morpheus)

Default my old river

i lived in kilmarnock from 82 til 86 and irvine 86 til 90 now living in berkshire, though still get up to see family once or twice a year.(castlepark and bourtreehill) i had some crackin trout from the irvine at the low green in the 88 season but i had a 5 lb seatrout from the stretch just above the viaduct. the best capture was a 16lb salmon from the rugby club side just below the weir but this was on a toby. i hope the old river is picking up it was dire during the 90's i hear.

Hi Mate,i live in Kilmarnock and fish the Irvine 2 or 3 times a week on different stretches that my permit allows. As you say the river was in a bit of decline but i am happy to tell you that it is returning to the river i knew as a boy.Last year for instance i saw an otter in the water and they don`t like dirty watersalso kingfishers are about and the fly life is improving. The fish themself are improving although it is a stocked water we have a large number of young fish as well as salmon parr in the river system. As you know it is a spate river and when the Salmon and seatrout start running we are starting to see healthy nunmber of both running.Hoped this helped
