Going to try and get to Aberdeen before the end of the season to see my mate and whilst I'm there it would be rude not to sample some scottish fishing.

So what I'd like off you lovely people is some suggestions on venues (rivers or lakes) that I could fish on a day ticket without having to take out a second mortgage.

No brainer, the river Don.
Loads of day ticket beats, just do a google search and you should have stacks of info at your fingertips.

Try Mike Barrio's site (http://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/) its the most comprehensive place to find info on the NE of Scotland. My brother sometimes fishes Mike's water out at Haddo and speaks highly of Mike and his set up out there. Loch Insch, Lochter, Dalgetie (a bit further away) are nice stillwaters. The website also has links to River Don access pages and the guys on that forum are usually spot on with advice and info.

I'll be up there for a week next month to visit family. Great fishing to be had and a fraction of the price of the South of Englandshire.

If you fancy a day on a nice loch/large stillwater, 1 hour south of aberdeen you have Rescobie loch or Lintrathen reservoir. Both top notch waters which you will find both scenic and challenging

8 hours for £20 at Haddo, canna beat it.

If its rainbows you fancy then Haddo is an excellent stillwater, tube or boat. If you're looking for a challenge and the chance of a pb brownie then the river don, but it aint easy...

I will definatley be there next year for a 2 week break with Mrs Junkie and the Junior Junkies but I'm also hoping to get a week on my own up there before the end of the season. (My mate needs a hand with his new house honestly darling!!!!)

The River Don and Haddo look like the sort of places for me so Chuileog I may very well take you up on that offer.
